Heatherbank CC + NMMU2 Showdown.
Sunday 28th October saw Heatherbank C C Super league side take on NMMU 2's at home.
The first league clash of the season for the super league side at home. Spirits and buzz is high after our previous two (2) games.
Apparently the varsity side were reluctant to play as there was to much grass on the prepared strip pah. "Whatever Mingas" Well whatever the whining lot say, the game went on.
Master blasting toss winning skipper Riaan Jeggels puts the varsity side into bat. An up and down start for the varsity side pretty much only runs backward of square flash.. flash is all I saw. A break through comes when the big man on campus aka Melman gets the wicket of the flashy opener. A great catch from the Welsy. In all games a partnership occurs and at drinks Heatherbank need to pull it back as the varsity going smoothly.
Gino comes back on to take a Hershall Contraveshall world cup catch well it was a caught and bowled, which got the umpires talking or conversing for a while and the NMMU batsman throwing his toys out of his crib as he was given out cause that's what he looked like tuning on guys who weren't even talking to him.
Heatherbank start to tighten the screws after a drop catch few miss fields to come back to restrict the varsity side to 195/9 after they could have gotten 230 plus. Well done boys.

The boys catch up on some liquids and banter and the Heatherbank boys prepare to go out to bat.
Opening the batting is the cramping JP and a bit of a change up today in the Line-Up the pac-man (No not Packirie) but the other pac-man aka Shaun the Whindog Whinney gets given the chance to open the batting for the supers side for the first time ever. I say Ever!
Lasting 9 overs at the crease Whindog gets caught behind leaving the cramped JP at the wicket who was struggling to run and about to give up. Enters Russell he departs early. Bringing the inform Dikkus to the crease. It was like he was still batting at the Dan taking that red ball from where he left off hitting the NMMU bowlers to all parts. A bit of a chuck here and a bit of a spin attack here nothing could stop him goodbye ball. JP playing a great support role, Cramping - where. We asked ourselves. Who needs to run when you guys are dealing in boundaries. Werner Potgieter into the attack brother versus brother. But un-luckily its was Werns to Jegges a good dot ball but unfortunately the other 5 balls went for the maximum leaving JP saying ag nee man dis my boetie... need Jeggels but Jeggie was on fire I think he made 100 runs in boundaries. If anyone is wanting a ball there is a kooka still in the grass on the Villiers side if you have the energy to spend time looking for it.
2 Wickets down and the two boys are going strong. Dikkus departs after another impressive Ton 116 runs later the side needs 4 to win enter the big man melman and he dispatches the ball for four giving heatherbank the win Leaving the Japes on an unbeaten 68*
